Nowadays, it is said that ch'emyon in the TEFL/TESL classroom highlights the importance of social respect. Recognizing ch'emyon allows teachers to create a supportive environment that increases students' confidence and participation. There is an author who said that "It is crucial to highlight the importance for teachers of English as a foreign language to understand the culture of their students, especially in the Korean and U.S. contexts".

After reading this, I have a more clear idea that understanding "ch'emyon" is essential for non-Korean teachers teaching English that country, as it allows them to create a learning environment that respects and accommodates students' cultural expectations, thus improving teaching effectiveness and promoting more meaningful cross-cultural communication.

This source of reading makes me reflect that it is crucial to respect local cultures in the educational setting, avoid stereotypes, and adopt a perspective that is not solely focused on Korean culture when assessing student behavior. These actions contribute significantly to creating a more inclusive and respectful learning environment.
